ISBN: 9780470657898
As part of Wiley-Blackwell’s excellent ‘At a glance’ series, Michael Neal has put together an incredibly succinct text on pharmacology, condensing complex topics into easily manageable sections.
Although written for medical students, this introductory text will be invaluable to all healthcare practitioners, including nursing students, healthcare assistants, nurses and midwives.
The topics are wide ranging, beginning with how drugs work in the body, how they are eliminated and medication in the treatment of specific diseases. Each chapter is well written, with clear and accessible language.
Key terms are highlighted in bold, making the specialist terminology straightforward and easy to learn. A particular strength is that each chapter is summarised by a good colour diagram. This means that key pharmacology concepts can be visualised – an invaluable aid for learning and revision.
The case studies and flash cards are excellent for consolidating knowledge, with good links to online resources. This is a fantastic approach to learning about pharmacology.
