Written by two American doctors, this text is a useful and updated resource explaining the basics of pharmacology.
It is organised into four sections and is intended to be read from start to finish. It begins by looking at the relevant maths, arithmetic and dosage calculations. Each unit comprises a series of chapters to work through.
There are discussions on critical thinking and general questions at the end of each section that support the content and help with understanding and refl ection. Further bonus questions, animations, audio glossary and content are provided online through a supplementary e-learning resource.
The content is useful, straightforward and readily understandable. Objectives are outlined at the start of each chapter, along with key terms.
Each unit focuses on subjects such as terminology, drug calculation and classification, and is supported by a range of well-referenced diagrams, tables and pictures.
Overall, this is an excellent text for students and practitioners wanting to learn about the basics of pharmacology or to revise their knowledge of the subject.
