During an oncology placement I encountered a patient who was being treated with warfarin. I realised I did not know enough about this type of therapy to care for the patient effectively.
On reading the article I learnt warfarin is used to prevent venous thromboembolism. Patients undergoing active oncology treatment are at high risk of thrombosis and careful attention should be paid to their anticoagulant therapy.
